Rania Matar a principalement basé son travail photographique sur les femmes. Elle a ainsi exploré la condition de la femme au Moyen-Orient, dans les camps de réfugiés palestiniens, ou encore sur la propagation du voile et de ses significations. Ses travaux ont remporté plusieurs prix, et ont été maintes fois publiés et exposés, que ce soit aux États-Unis, mais aussi à l’étranger.
