We are already living in a strange world. But maybe we need things to become completely off - really bizarre - beyond our understanding to adopt more ecological ways of life. We know climate change and food security matter, we realize the choices we make today will affect the future, but we don't develop new relationship with nature, change the way our food is grown, adopt new consumption habits. The Strange World Disney features a land called Avalonia very similar to our world with families struggling with energy consumption to satisfy their needs and farmers using pesticides on their crops to feed the world (and provide energy). And another world, a vibrant and cotton candy-coloured new world coming to life as the farmers explore the deep underground maze under their crops.
What I liked the most is that the 2 worlds are not opposed in a binary way. Characters build their understanding of what matters and how best to act in the commun interest from both worlds. Both worlds have their reality and utopia. Avalonia is a community of humans woven together from a mix of ethnic cultures. The underground world populated by non humans appears, at first, threatening to humans, a place with no rules, but as the story unrolls we discover that each living being acts in full consciousness in nature's masterplan for everyone's well being.
There is no vilain. I can't recall a bad guy in the story. No one is threatening the others. At the end of the film I am the witness of a timeless bond between humans and non humans uniting them on earth. That's maybe why some critiques say the plot of the movie is quite hard to follow. For me it was crystal clear.
Strange World has a strong echo with my exploration of regenerative agriculture and the new relationships to be imagined between humans and non humans. I will put it to rest for now but you can read these articles :

Within the association "nous sommes vivants" (we are alive) we explore approaches and tools to trigger the ecological transition in companies in response to the exceeding of planetary limits and the disappearance of life.
Our approach to bringing the Ecological Transition to companies is regeneration. Only Living Beings #regenerate. Their #resilience requires specific capacities to maintain their potential for vitality and life. Thus, the regenerative approach aims to develop the unique capacities of the living (#Human_Social and/or #Environment_Nature) to continue its evolution. Its purpose is to allow a collective to contribute to an ecosystem service.
